Just one hour from Copenhagen, Klarskovgaard will reopen on 1 September 2027 with new guest rooms, a new spa and wellness area, a new restaurant and enhanced facilities for meetings, conferences and retreats.
Following an extensive redevelopment after the fire, Klarskovgaard will reopen on 1 September 2027. With newly renovated guest rooms, a new spa and wellness area, and a new restaurant, the hotel is evolving into a destination for relaxation, wellbeing and memorable experiences. At the same time, it continues to build on its strong position as a venue for meetings, conferences, strategy sessions and retreats. Set on the shores of the Great Belt, with forest on its doorstep, Klarskovgaard is just an hour’s drive from Copenhagen and offers easy access from the motorway.
The transformation is driven by Proark, which has developed a new vision for the property in collaboration with the award-winning Swedish design and concept studio Stylt. The vision builds on what makes Klarskovgaard unique: its location between forest and sea, its distinctive architecture from the 1960s, and a growing demand for destinations where nature, wellbeing and quality create the setting for both leisure stays and meetings and conferences.
A destination inspired by nature
Nature is more than a beautiful backdrop – it is an integral part of the guest experience. The surrounding forest, coastline and sea will shape everything from architecture and interior design to gastronomy, wellness and outdoor activities.
At the same time, Klarskovgaard’s architectural heritage will be preserved and further developed. Originally designed by architects Viggo Møller-Jensen and Tyge Arnfred, the hotel remains a distinctive example of Nordic late modernism, where the buildings are carefully integrated into the landscape and create a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors.
New guest rooms and spa experiences
The hotel’s 105 newly renovated guest rooms have been designed with nature-inspired interiors that promote comfort, tranquillity and wellbeing. A new spa and wellness area will be introduced, while the new restaurant and bar will focus on local and seasonal ingredients.
The location also provides direct access to the surrounding forest and coastline, where activities such as swimming, hiking, mountain biking and walking trails become a natural part of the guest experience.
Meetings surrounded by nature
Meetings and conferences have been at the heart of Klarskovgaard for decades and will remain a cornerstone of the hotel’s future. The meeting facilities are being enhanced with 25 flexible meeting and breakout rooms, modern amenities and capacity for up to 200 delegates in the largest venue.
Here, nature becomes an active part of the meeting experience, creating better opportunities for focus, collaboration and meaningful connections – both inside and outside the meeting room. The ambition is to create a destination where business and leisure guests are drawn by the same qualities: tranquillity, gastronomy, wellness and unique nature experiences.
A new chapter for Klarskovgaard
The reopening marks the beginning of a new chapter for Klarskovgaard. For many years, the hotel has been operated by Comwell, and as the current operating agreement comes to an end at the close of 2026, Klarskovgaard enters a new phase. The ambition remains the same: to build on the hotel’s strong position as a destination for meetings, conferences and stays while preserving what has always made Klarskovgaard a special place to come together.
