New facilities and increased capacity to be completed in July 2027
Airport Hotel Billund is embarking on a major expansion that will increase capacity and further strengthen the hotel’s offering for both business and leisure guests. The building permit has been granted, and construction on the extensive extension and refurbishment project is now underway.
The project will add 90 new rooms and a total of 308 new beds, along with modern facilities, and is expected to be completed in July 2027. Once completed, Airport Hotel Billund will be the hotel with the largest room capacity in Billund.
The development is carried out in collaboration with the hotel’s owner, Proark, which continues to invest in developing and future-proofing its hospitality portfolio. At the same time, the hotel will continue its franchise agreement with Bühlmann Hotels, and Proark highly values the close and professional collaboration, which is an important part of the hotel’s continued development.
More rooms and enhanced facilities
The new six-storey extension will include classic hotel rooms, larger “out-of-home apartments” designed for longer stays, and additional connecting rooms for families and groups. The project will also introduce new meeting and conference facilities for up to approximately seventy participants, as well as a new restaurant, café and bar.
Common areas will be upgraded to create flexible spaces for work, meetings and relaxation, while the hotel’s outdoor areas will be enhanced with, among other things, a new terrace running along the building and offering views of the surrounding area.
The project is being delivered with RUM Arkitekter as total design advisor, in collaboration with DRIAS, Semrén & Månsson Architecture, and Emcon as client-side construction advisor. KG Hansen is acting as main contractor.
A place to unwind in a busy everyday life
For many guests, a stay at the hotel represents a welcome pause in a busy everyday life — an experience the expansion aims to strengthen further.
“We want to be more than just a place to stay overnight. Our ambition is for guests to find calm and feel comfortable throughout their stay. That is why we are making substantial investments in both facilities and interior design,” says Martin Ebmark, CEO of Airport Hotel Billund.
